Here is a picture of one of the random street parties outside the bar. Beer is just as much a part of Songkran as the water.
This pump was installed on the street just for Songkran. I do not know how much it would cost to use it as we just filled our buckets from the moat. 
This moat runs around the main part of town. Many people went for a swim and others just used it to fill up their buckets. The water was not the cleanest so it was not too exciting to get it in your eyes or mouth. We were told to make sure that we shower as soon as we get home.
