Singled out yet again

This afternoon we went to the bookstore to get another book. Misty traded three of her books in and only received enough credit to buy one book back. I guess the book exchange is not a good deal after all. We spent the later part of the afternoon at the park, eating the picnic I prepared and reading our books. There was a concert in the park with Thai singing and dancing. Misty and I were sitting about 10 rows back and the first singer comes on stage, sings a song and then introduces herself in Thai. Halfway through her talk, she stops, looks at us and says “Hello! How are you?” I answer with gestures, as everyone turns to look at us. She continues, “Do you speak Thai? No? So you are just here to enjoy the music then. Welcome!” She then introduced her next song and told everyone she was going to sing it for her new friends. The song was called “You’ve Got A Friend.” It is just funny that no matter where we go, we always manage to stick out. So far we have not been able to attend a concert yet without being singled out. This always makes for an entertaining time.

We met up with SiJie and decided we would go out for a drink before the movie we were planning on seeing. We went to Dubliners and ran into Lee Shamrock, the musician, and the manager of the bar as soon as we entered. There was a private rugby party going on so the bar was closed, but he told us to take a table and order what we wanted. Once again VIP treatment. And ladies, this was the place to be that’s for sure!

Tonight we went to see a romantic movie. It was terrible. However, we were the only ones in the theatre at first so we danced to the opening songs and pretended we were on stage as the whole theatre looks like a big stage. We also decided to upgrade ourselves to the VIP comfy seats in the back row. I think they are called honeymoon seats. They feel like lazy boys that are huge and plushy. I don’t know if I would ever actually pay to sit it one of these seats as it is almost double the cost of a normal ticket, but it was worth the experience for one movie. SiJie did not enjoy the movie at all and skipped out half way through to see what else was playing. She went to see Vantage Point and undoubtedly she had a much better movie going experience. Our movie was just way too cheesy and unbelievable. At parts that most people would think was so romantic and gushy, Misty and I could not stop laughing and it made us want to throw up in our mouth. Sorry for the graphic description but I do not know how else to explain it to you.

After the movie we had the bright idea that it would be easier to walk across the street than take the overhead cross walk. Traffic was not bad crossing the lanes going in one direction but then we got stuck in the middle. Overall, I do not think this was a good idea at all, but it sure woke us up.

That’s all for now folks, sorry nothing too exciting. Let’s see what tomorrow will bring.
P.S. We still have our gecko roommate. He seems to be getting a little more daring, venturing all over the room. However, I have decided I need to appreciate his presence as he eats bugs. (Not that I have noticed a decrease in them, but I’d like to believe he is doing his job)
